substack link in bio

31 Oct 2026 · 2 min read

A Substack link in bio opens the letter on Substack. This site can store an email address. It does not send the letter or a welcome note.

The letter lives where it is sent

Substack link in bio is the public publication, pasted as a button or as the profile website. Newsletter link in bio and link in bio newsletter mean that same next step: the place that actually sends the mail.

If the letter is the only offer, Instagram can point straight at it. If you also have a shop or a video, put the publication on the page and paste makemylink.space and your name in the bio.

What this page will store

Someone can type an email into a signup on the page. It is saved with your account. This site does not send a welcome note, a weekly letter, or a receipt for that address.

Use that field only if you will read the list and write to people from a tool that sends mail. An unread list is not a newsletter.

Label it as a letter

The button should say what they get. A name, a day, a subject. “Click here” does not say a letter will arrive.

Do not imply the letter comes from this domain. If it comes from Substack, the button can say so in plain words.

A writer’s newsletter with the same words

Some newsletters use “link in bio” in the title. That is their letter. It is not a button on your page unless you paste their URL on purpose.

Your publication URL is the one in your Substack settings, the public one. Copy that.

Keep the bio still

New issues do not need a new Instagram URL if the publication home is the button. If one issue should be first, put that issue’s URL on the page and publish.

X and Threads can use the same page. The short post is the hook. The button is the letter.

Open it logged out

Tap the profile on a phone. The publication should load without your author login. If it asks you to sign in as the writer, you pasted the editor.

A click is not a subscriber. Substack knows who subscribed. This page knows the button was tapped.

Questions

Will this page mail my list?
No. An email signup is saved in the studio. The letter goes out from Substack, or from whatever tool you already use.
Do I paste the editor URL?
No. Paste the public publication. Readers should not need your login.
Can the button say the letter’s name?
Yes. “Friday letter” is clearer than “Substack”.
