email signup on a link in bio

An email signup on a link in bio saves the address in Messages. This site does not send the letter. A lead form is a separate list with consent.
The form saves an address. It does not send mail
An email signup on a link in bio is a form on the page. The visitor types an address. It is saved in Messages with your account. This site does not send the letter, a welcome note, or a weekly mail.
You still write to the person yourself, or you export a lead and send from the tool you already use. Say that in the line above the form. “Leave an email. It is saved so I can write to you.” A heading that only says “Subscribe” implies a letter this page does not send.
If you already send mail from another site, prefer a button to that https page. Label it with the name of the letter. The signup then happens where the mail is actually sent.
A lead is not the same form
A lead form asks for a name, an email, and an explicit consent checkbox. Those submissions stay in Leads. They can be exported or deleted. Contact notes and email signups stay in Messages and are not part of that lead export.
Use a lead when you need a name and a clear yes. Use the shorter email signup when you only need the address and you will read it in Messages. Neither one connects to a mailing product by itself.
Put the reason to write above the form
A form at the top of an empty page collects addresses from people who do not know what they joined. Put the video, the syllabus, or a short note first. Then ask. The sentence under your name should match the ask.
A course page can show the lessons and a price, then a note or a lead for a seat. The price is a label. Checkout is an https link on another site. This page does not charge a card and does not take UPI.
Do not collect an email for a chat
If the next step is a conversation, use WhatsApp. The button is wa.me. It opens a chat with your number. It is not a bot. An email form in front of that chat adds a step you will not answer in the inbox.
A contact note is for a message the visitor types on the page. It is saved in the studio. It is not forwarded to WhatsApp and it is not emailed to you. You open Messages to read it.
Say what they are agreeing to
Write the intro in plain words: what you will send, and that you will not send it from this page. If you are not going to write to them, do not ask for the address.
A lead’s consent checkbox is the explicit yes. Do not hide the ask in a paragraph of slogans. People who know what they typed are the ones you can write to later without guessing.
Words that match what the form does
Above an email signup, write: “Leave an email. I save it in the studio and write to you myself. This page does not send the letter.” That is the whole promise. “Join 10,000 subscribers” is a different product, and it is a lie if you do not have the list or the send.
A lead form can say: “Your name, your email, and a yes. I keep it with my leads. I do not mail you from this page.” The consent checkbox is that yes. Do not bury it under a slogan.
If the letter already goes out from another site, skip the form. Add a button labelled with the letter’s name and point it at that https signup. People then confirm on the tool that actually sends mail. Your page only has to open the door.
After you publish, submit one address you control and open Messages. If it is not there, you tested the draft or the wrong page. A lead shows under Leads, not in the same list as a contact note.
Read the list before you promise a send
Open Messages after a real signup and confirm the address is there. A preview in the studio is not a visitor. Publish the page first, then try the form on the public URL.
When you do send the letter, send it from your mail tool. Come back to this page only to change the intro or to take the form down. Removing the form is an edit and a publish. The addresses already saved stay in the studio until you delete them there.
Questions
- Will they get a confirmation email?
- Not from this site. If another tool sends a confirm or a welcome note, that happens on that tool.
- Where do the addresses go?
- An email signup is saved in Messages. A lead, which asks for a name, an email, and consent, stays in Leads and can be exported or deleted.
- Should a shop use this instead of WhatsApp?
- Use WhatsApp when you answer in chat. Use the form when you actually want an email address and you will write to the person yourself.
