Link in bio Bitly is a short URL for one address. A link in bio page holds several buttons. Point Bitly at the page if a poster needs the short form and the profile needs the buttons.
Bitly shortens one URL
Link in bio bitly is a search for a shorter address. Bitly link in bio means that short URL sitting in a profile. It opens whatever you pointed it at. It does not grow buttons by itself.
If the only destination is one video, a short link is enough. If you need the video, the shop, and WhatsApp, the short link should open the page that holds those buttons.
Point the short link at the stable page
Publish makemylink.space and your name. Then create the Bitly link to that address, if you want one. Change buttons on the page later. You do not need a new short link every Friday.
A short link aimed at a draft, or at a single Shopify product you will replace, goes stale. Aim it at the page you will keep.
Where a short link helps
A poster, a card, or a spoken URL. Instagram’s website field can hold the full address. You do not have to shorten it for the bio to work.
A QR code from the studio is the other paper form. Scans are counted separately from link taps. A Bitly click is counted by Bitly, not by this studio, unless the visit lands here.
Do not chain tools
Bio to Bitly to a second link tool to the shop is three chances to break. One hop is enough. Prefer the page directly in Instagram.
If a short link is what you already printed, leave it, and make sure it still opens the current page.
A campaign tag is not Bitly
You can add utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign on the URL you share. The studio lists that campaign when the visit stored it. It does not name the person.
Bitly’s own stats are theirs. A zero here means this page has not been opened, not that Bitly is empty.
Test the hop
Open the short link on a phone, logged out. You should land on the published page, then on the first button you meant.
If it asks you to log into Bitly, you copied the editor. Copy the public short link instead.
Questions
- Does this site create Bitly links?
- No. Bitly is their product. You can paste a Bitly URL into a profile, or paste this page’s URL into Bitly.
- Should the bio be the short link or the page?
- The page, if you want more than one button. Use the short link on a poster or a caption that cannot hold a long URL.
- Is a short link the same as a QR code?
- No. A short link is text. A QR code is the address as a square. Both should open the published page.
