before you publish a link in bio

Before you publish a link in bio, replace sample links, read it on a phone, and confirm the first button opens the page you mean.
Open the draft and do the visitor’s job
Before you publish a link in bio, open the draft on a phone and do what a visitor would do. Read the name and the sentence. Tap the first button. It should be https, and it should be yours.
The most common miss is a sample address left from a starter page. example.com does not open your menu, your video, or your chat. Replace every sample before the page is public. Then tap again.
If the first button does not match the sentence, fix one of them. A sentence about Friday’s video with a first button labelled Shop sends people to the wrong place and teaches them not to tap.
Check the address you are about to keep
The username becomes the public path. It is three to thirty characters, letters, numbers, and hyphens, and it cannot start or end with a hyphen. Publish it only when you are willing to leave it in Instagram and on anything you print.
Free includes one published profile. A second public profile is not part of that. Pro is listed on the pricing page. Billing is not connected, so choosing it does not charge a card and does not start a purchase.
Play the media and open the chat
If you added a YouTube or Vimeo block, play it. A channel home page will not. Paste the video. If you added Spotify or SoundCloud, press play and confirm it is the track, the show, or the playlist you named.
Open WhatsApp from your own phone. The number needs a country code and no leading zero. An India mobile number starts with 91. The button opens a chat. It does not send a message for you, and it is not a bot.
Look at the picture and the form
Use a photo of the person or the shop when you have one. A generated face is a placeholder. An uploaded photo is described with the name. A generated face is not announced as a person.
If there is an email signup, the intro should say the address is saved and that this site does not send the letter. If there is a contact form, know that the note waits in Messages. It is not emailed to you. Take the form off the page if you will not read it.
Publish, then paste once
Publish when those checks pass. Paste makemylink.space and your name into the one website field. Open that field from the app and confirm you land on the page you just published, not on a draft and not on a sample.
A view shows up after that real visit. Do not expect a count before anyone opens the public page. Keyword replies on Instagram, if you use them, start only after a professional account is connected. Publish itself does not post, reply, or message anyone.
One pass, in order
Read the username out loud. If you would not put it on a card, change it before you publish, not after. Then read the sentence. Then tap the first button and confirm it is https and it is yours. Then open WhatsApp, if it is on the page, and confirm a chat starts with your number.
Play a video or a song if you added one. Submit the form if you added one, and read the note in the studio. Look at the photo. A real picture of the person or the shop is better than a generated face left from a starter.
Publish. Paste the address once, into the website field you actually use. Open that field from the app. You should see the page you just checked, including the platform mark that stays on a free page. A view can show up after that visit. It will not show up before it.
If any step fails, stop and fix the draft. Publishing a page you have not tapped is how a sample link becomes the thing in your bio.
Stop when the page matches the week
Leave it up until something on it is no longer true. The next change is an edit and another publish, not a new address. Schedule a button when you already know the day it should leave.
If you are not ready, do not publish to “hold” the name in public. The draft can wait. A public page full of sample links is worse than no page, because people tap it once and do not come back.
Questions
- Can I publish more than once?
- Yes. Each publish replaces the public page with the current draft. Fix a mistake by editing and publishing again.
- What if I am not ready for people to see it?
- Leave the draft unpublished. Do not paste an address you are still rewriting into a bio you are promoting today.
- Does publish post to Instagram?
- No. You paste the link yourself. A keyword reply runs only after a professional Instagram account is connected, and it is a reply, not the publish button.
