how to pick a giveaway winner
28 Oct 2026 · 1 min read
How to pick a giveaway winner from a list you paste: a random name, a wheel, or dice. The draw uses the browser's cryptographic random source.
Start from the list you already have
How to pick a giveaway winner starts with the names, not with a second product. Paste one name on each line into the random name picker. Choose how many winners you need. Start the draw.
Duplicate lines can be folded together, or kept, depending on the switch. The list keeps up to 500 lines. Read the names before you draw so a blank line is not a person.
Wheel, names, or dice
The wheel gives each name a slice, up to 24 names, and stops on one winner. Use it when people are watching a screen.
Dice are for a total, not for a comment list. Roll up to six dice. The total is the sum of the faces. Use names when the prize is a person on a list.
Where the number comes from
The winning index, the shuffle, and the final dice faces use crypto.getRandomValues in the browser. The draw is not fetched from a server and it is not a published certificate.
A flicker during the animation is only the animation. The result that remains is the draw. If reduced motion is on, the result shows without the spin.
Say the rules before you draw
Write who was eligible and how many winners, in the caption, before you press start. A tool cannot fix a rule you did not publish.
The picker does not read Instagram comments by itself. If you need a comment list, paste the names. A separate live room can take entries when you have set one up. This guide is the public picker.
Questions
- Do I need an account to draw?
- No. The name picker, the wheel, and the dice run in the browser. A live room with a code is separate.
- Does the page post the winner to Instagram?
- No. You copy the name and announce it yourself.
