how to add music to a link in bio

How to add music to a link in bio: a Spotify or SoundCloud link can play on the page. Other music sites stay as https buttons.

Spotify and SoundCloud can play on the page

How to add music to a link in bio depends on where the audio already lives. A link on open.spotify.com can play on the page: a track, an album, a playlist, an episode, a show, or an artist. A SoundCloud link can play too.

Copy the address from the share sheet. It has to be https. A screenshot, a story, or a canvas is not an address the player can use. Paste the open.spotify.com link, not a short link that only opens the app store.

Give the block a title a person understands, such as the single or the episode name. “Music” is a label for a folder. The title should be the thing they can play.

Other hosts stay as buttons

Apple Music, Bandcamp, Audiomack, and a presave page do not play inside this page. Add them as buttons. They open that site. Label the button with the song or the record, not with the name of the company, unless the company is the only thing a fan would recognise.

YouTube and Vimeo are for video, not for a song you wanted to embed as audio. A music video can be a video block. A track you want people to hear with the artwork is the Spotify or SoundCloud player.

Put the player where the visit starts

If someone tapped the bio to hear the song, the player belongs under the name, above the tour and the shop. The midnight starter is that shape: listen, then the rest. You replace the example name and point the buttons at your own https links.

A podcast episode on Spotify uses the same player. A show that lives only on Apple or on YouTube is a button to that show. Do not promise an in-page player for a host this page cannot embed.

Change the song without changing the bio

When Friday’s track is new, replace the player URL and publish. The address in Instagram, TikTok, or the YouTube about box stays makemylink.space and your name. Fans should not have to hunt for a new line every release.

A release that should appear only on the day can be scheduled. The rest of the page stays up. After the day, the button leaves. You do not delete the whole page to retire one link.

What the player does not do

It does not upload your master. It does not sell the record. A merch or a Bandcamp checkout is an https button to the shop you already use. A price can show on an offer here. The payment is not taken on this page.

It does not start a mailing list. If you want an address for the next release, say so in a form and read the notes in the studio, or send people to the signup tool that actually sends your mail. This site does not send the letter.

Paste a Spotify track from the share sheet

Open the track in Spotify. Use share, then copy the link. You want an address on open.spotify.com with /track/ and a long id. An album, a playlist, a show, an episode, or an artist uses the same host with that word in the path. A link that only opens the app store will not play here.

In the studio, add the audio block, paste that address, and title it with the song or the episode. Publish. On your phone, open the public page and press play once. If the wrong record starts, you pasted the album or the artist. Go back to the track link.

SoundCloud is the same idea with a soundcloud.com address. Apple Music, Bandcamp, and a presave stay buttons, because they do not play inside this page. Label those buttons with the release name so a fan knows which tap leaves the page.

When next Friday’s song is ready, replace the address and publish again. Do not change the username, and do not paste a new line into Instagram. Fans who saved the old bio still land on the new track.

Check the player on a phone before you publish

Open the draft, press play, and confirm it is the right track. A playlist link will play the playlist. An artist link will open the artist. If you wanted one song, paste the track.

Then publish, and open the public page from the app where the bio lives. A player that works in the studio and fails in the bio is usually the old public page, because the draft was never published.

Questions

Will the song start by itself?
No. A visitor presses play. The SoundCloud player is set not to autoplay.
Can I upload an mp3?
No. The audio has to live on Spotify or SoundCloud, or the button opens another https page. This site does not host the file.
Does this page count streams?
Plays happen on Spotify or SoundCloud. This site stores a view of the page and a click when someone taps a button. It does not report stream counts.
